Your nails were meant for me, the crown of thorns should have been on my head, the soldier’s spear should have pierced my side and the cheers and insults were meant for me. It should have been me hanging on those pieces of woods–but it wasn’t. It was You dying in my place. Lord, I thank You because I should be the one dying because of sin. Instead, You took my place.
Strengthen me, Lord, so that in every step that I will be doing is a call for discipleship; so that I will be living towards the life that pleases You. Seeing You at the cross should put me to shame, instead You embraced me over and over again and the shame is replaced with so much love and compassion. Let my forever calling be the same as You - to give love, to instill compassion, to bring peace. Please guide me along the way.
Accept this as my humble prayer, Amen.
